Dr. Fred Abong - Existential Mapper and Transpersonal Strategist. Synthesizing Western and Vedic Astrology.

THE CONVERGENCE OF DISCIPLINE AND symbol

“I am a scholar of human identity and culture, a practitioner of dual-system astrology for over 25 years, and an independent songwriter and collaborative musician.

My academic background - a PhD in Humanities - focused on the narratives, philosophies, and histories that shape our personal identities as well as our collective reality.

I was a professor in the Religious Studies and Philosophy departments of Salve Regina University for more than a decade. I taught (and still do on occasion) extensively on the religious traditions of the world, including Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Taoism, as well as on the ancient Greek and modern philosophical traditions.

Prior to my academic career I studied the karmic patterns revealed by Vedic astrology (Jyotish) and the psychological depths uncovered in Western astrology. I see both as blueprints for understanding individual human destinies. I have also run a private consulting practice using these systems since 2000.

A musician since early adolescence, I have been both collaborator and solo artist and continue my musical explorations daily. I see both academics and astrological consulting as a natural extension of the creative process I first discovered in music.

I have also spent many years employed in high-end cabinetmaking shops and continue to be so from time to time.

I am now looking to share my lifelong experience in these areas with those interested in similarly examining the deeper patterns - personal, cultural, and cosmic - that influence and shape our lives.”
